Last week was the week of both my birthday and anniversary. Yes, you read that correctly …I actually planned my wedding the same week of my birthday. Why would I do that you may ask? Well, if you flashback 5 years ago when we were planning our said wedding, July 16th was the only Saturday available at our wedding venue that next summer that my entire immediate family could attend so July 16th it was. Because of this, I made my husband promise me that we would celebrate each occasion separately going forward. And that we do!
This year we really went all out. For my birthday we spent a night in the city while my Mom babysat Emma (Thank you Mom!!). While we were there we saw Aladdin on Broadway. If you haven’t seen it yet, I recommend it…the guy who plays the Genie is amazing!! Below is a selfie of us waiting for the show to begin…
Afterwards we walked around the city and went inside Gramercy Park. Going to Gramercy Park has been on my bucket list for awhile now as you need a key to get inside. How did we get a key you may ask? Well we found out that if you stay at the Gramercy Park hotel they have a key so you can go inside…and that we did! It is a beautiful hotel (and a beautiful park). I’ve included some pictures below…
I loved the hotel lobby…especially the gorgeous chandelier! The park was so quiet and peaceful!
For dinner we went to the Gramercy Tavern and it was amazing. The service was absolutely outstanding and lent itself to become the best meal I ever had. The food itself was delicious as well and the drink I had was amazing. It was called the “Orange Blossom” and had sparkling wine, elderflower and orange bitters in it…I am definitely going to have to try and recreate it one of these days…
On my actual birthday we celebrated with the Emster with my favorite cake from Cipriani’s in NYC…a vanilla buttercream cake…it is light and delicious and full of granulated sugar! If you haven’t had it yet and are ever in the city craving some cake…it is a must in my opinion!
And below is a shot of the Emster after we had some cake…as you can see, she is really into accessories lately (as long as it has nothing to do with being in her hair that is)…
All in all a great celebratory week! Thanks to Lawrence and my Mom for making it happen!
