I saw some marshmallow bunny pops on pinterest earlier this year and just knew I HAD to make them for Emma’s party. In fact, I may or may not have bought them at Easter-time along with some Easter colored M&M’s and froze them in the freezer so I could make them for Emma’s birthday…in August. So yea…”may” have bought the supplies:).
Little did I know they would be one of the biggest hits from Emma’s party…the kiddos (and adults) loved them. I think they were Emma’s favorite too. At the family party she kept handing them out to people, it was so cute. They also have nice little straws on them…perfect for little hands.
I will definitely be keeping these pops in mind for future events…at Halloween and Christmas time they come out with holiday peeps so I may be “need” to do a Halloween pumpkin marshmallow pop this year.
To make the bunny pops I first stuck straws into the marshmallow peeps. Then laid them down on wax paper:
Next, I melted the chocolate. I used used bright white candy melts instead of white chocolate as they are easier to melt. To melt the candy I created a double boiler situation by putting a bowl of candy melts over a pot of simmering water. You could also melt them in the microwave.
Then I twirled the bunny pops in the melted chocolate (make sure the chocolate is off the stove/pot at this point).
Next, laid the covered bunny pops on wax paper and placed an M&M where the bunny tail should be and repeated the process for all of the marshmallow peep pops.
Note: If the chocolate gets hard, then just remelt in the double boiler/in the microwave. I also only melted a little bit of chocolate at a time to prevent the chocolate from hardening.
I hope you like them as much as we do!
- 1 package of marshmallow bunny peeps
- 1 1/2 bags of bright white candy melts
- 12 straws (the cuter the better!)
- 12 m&m's (mini marshmallows would also work)
- wax paper
- 1. Tape down a long piece of wax paper to the table.
- 2. Stick one straw in each marshmallow bunny - make sure the straw is pushed through most of the way so the bunny does not fall off. Set aside.
- 3. Melt candy melts in a double boiler (I just put the candy melts in a bowl over boiling water).
- 4. Dip each bunny in melted chocolate, twirl bunny around on the straw to make sure it is fully coated.
- 5. Place chocolate covered bunny down on wax paper. Add M&M for the tail and then let the bunny dry.
- 6. Repeat.
