Happy Valentines Day! I hope you are enjoying the day pampering yourself or spending the time with the ones you love most! (Or at the very least staying warm despite the frigid temps outside!).
I know I am super excited for today and am looking forward to some heart shaped pizza and fondue in my future later tonight!!
But back to these Valentines….this year I decided to go with robot-themed Valentines for the Emster as she LOVES robots. And boy I am glad I did…they came out super cute!!
I ordered the Valentines for her on Minted …the robot ones with the pink hearts (of course) as my girl LOVES pink. Then, I randomly came across this robot-themed chocolate mold a few days later. So of course I “HAD” to get it. And voila…this years Valentine theme was solidified!
I decided to make a white chocolate oreo mixture with the mold as I have made White Chocolate Oreo Bark in the past and it was delicious. So White Chocolate Oreo Robots it was! And they are deceptively easy to make… just be sure to make them 24 hours before you want to serve them as they need some time to dry.
And if robots aren’t your thing you can always put this mixture into another mold or make it into an White Chocolate Oreo Bark as I mentioned above (I will also explain how to make the bark below).
To make the robots you need your mold (if using one), 4 oz of white chocolate (I like the Ghiradelli white chocolate bars), 3 double stuff oreos, and 1 tsp of vegetable shortening (not pictured):
First take the 3 oreos and place them in a sealed plastic ziploc bag. Smash them! I used the flat side of a meat tenderizer but if you have a small craft hammer or something along those lines that will work too.
Then chop the white chocolate and place it in a small pot over low heat. Stir until melted then remove from heat. Next, add the smashed oreos and mix it all together. Using a spoon add the white chocolate oreo mixture to each robot cavity. As you can see a lot of the white chocolate landed on the sides of the mold, you can use your spoon or spatula to push this into the other robot cavities.
This recipes makes just enough for 12 robots so if you plan to do some extensive taste tasting you may need to make a second batch!
If you do decide to go for that second batch and have any left over you can use the left overs to make the White Chocolate Oreo Bark OR you can just make this mixture into bark from the get-go.
To make the bark, you crush the oreos and chop the white chocolate like before. Then, once all your white chocolate is all melted and your crushed oreos are all mixed in you can put the white chocolate mixture in a baking dish lined with a piece of parchment paper, making sure to smooth out the mixture with a knife or spatula to ensure the mixture is evenly spread to the same thickness…see below. Let the mixture dry. You can then break the bark into big pieces to serve or enjoy yourself. This bark also makes for an excellent homemade gift at holiday times:).
And because I couldn’t resist…more robot cuteness!!
