Applesauce Pops

June 1, 2015 Leave a Comment

When I told my husband I was making Applesauce Pops for the blog he kinda laughed and asked if I would be posting “ice water” next.  I then told him, “Well if it has pretty ice cubes in it, then maybe:).”

All jokes aside, I thought this was a pretty awesome idea…it is easy, healthy (at least healthier) AND if you have kids, they can get involved in the “cooking” process.  In fact, I googled it after to see if I was the first person to come up with this idea, unfortunately I was not.  But, it is a great idea for the warmer weather, a rainy day activity or if someones tummy is not feeling so hot.

Applesauce Pops Updated

Even Emma loved making them…

Clearly if your toddler is involved you may not want to serve them to other people and maybe will need to straighten out the popsicle sticks afterwards:).

But lots of fun, easy to make and yummy to eat!

Ingredients
  1. 24 oz jar of applesauce (I used Mott's Original)
  2. popsicle sticks ( I used 10 as I had 10 hearts in my mold)
  3. popsicle or ice cube mold
Instructions
  1. 1. Pour applesauce into popsicle mold or ice cube tray.
  2. 2. Place the filled ice cub tray/molds into freezer for 30 minutes.
  3. 3. Then place popsicle sticks into each popsicle cavity.
  4. 4. Freeze popsicles for a few hours or overnight.
  5. Enjoy!
Notes
  1. To get the popsicles out of my heart ice cube tray once frozen, I just pushed the popsicle up a little bit from the bottom, then pulled on the stick up top to get the popsicle out of the mold. For regular popsicle molds you may need to run it under warm water for 30 seconds or so before pulling the popsicles out.

*While I can not find the exact heart mold that I used (I purchased it years ago at a kitchen store in NYC, this one looks pretty similar.
