Last Saturday was Lawrence’s birthday party. I can’t believe he is 35 already…wow! Time flies. It was nice to celebrate and get everyone together as people are starting to move in different directions geographically.
For his birthday I hired the Big Green Pizza Truck which was AWESOME!! They handled just about everything…pizza, salad, gelato and espressos/cappuccinos… They even had gluten free dough for a couple of our guests. I will definitely be using them in the future!
I also put together a cookie bar for the event. Dessert tables generally require some extra work to put together but I really loved this one as it was a lot of fun to come up with different cookie combinations and it required minimal work the day before the event.
To keep the cookies tasting fresh I either put the cookies in tupperware the morning after I baked them or double wrapped them in both cling wrap and aluminum foil. Then the night before the party I took all of the cookies out of the freezer and arranged them on the platters/cake stands (and then wrapped them in aluminum foil to stay fresh for the next day).
I made 8 different types of cookies:
*Salted Chocolate Chip
*Salted Mint Chocolate
*Salted Caramel Chocolate Chip
*M&M
* Salted Reverse Chocolate Chip
*Salted Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip
*Salted Triple Chocolate Chip
*Sugar
As you may have noticed the majority of cookies have a little salt on top…I really love how the sweet and salty flavors mix in the cookies. While I don’t have all of the recipes up on the blog just yet, they will be coming shortly:). Six out of eight recipes are adaptations I made from the cookie recipe from Jacque Torres that my sister-in-law Christine gave me.
Below are some close ups of the cookies…I was holding my daughter while taking the pictures so not sure why I only have up close pictures of some of the cookies but you get the idea:).
